People keep telling me I should post something more about myself.... I kept thinking 'um why?'
I suppose though introducing myself is proper and gives credence to my skills, so ..... here goes.

My name is Amy Charette I am the creator of all things metal :)

I began welding in 1995 attaining my journeyman certificate in 1998. I worked and lived in Fort McMurray. I worked both at Syncrude and for IW 720.

In 2000 I had my first baby boy and another one in 2002 so the welding was on hold while I stayed home for their first few precious years.

In 2004 a unique opportunity came up to teach fabrication at the local high school. I took it and it was during my time their I started to explore the artistic side of my trade. Part of the curriculum was a year end final project, the possibilities were endless!

We moved south in 2005, unfortunately the local school board requires a bachelor of education to do the same job I was just doing! So I decided to try the college level. Teaching is infectious and I love sharing what I know.

I worked with Lakeland College untill their campus in Sherwood Park closed, it was very different from a high school setting, at that time Alberta was booming and skilled workers were in VERY short supply so I had the task of teaching Red Seal equivalency. At one point it took me to Portugal for 5 weeks!!!

With Lakeland winding down and me in my niche I started at NAIT, what an amazing place! Everything was top notch! Leading edge technology, amazing shops and classrooms, fantastic co-workers the list went on. But as life has a way of surprising you when you least expect it I learned I was pregnant with our third child - A GIRL!!! I went back to NAIT after my mat leave was up, she was 10 months old and after a couple of months I looked at my boys who were now 6 & 8 and realized she too would be all grown up in no time.

So with much trepidation I left NAIT (and benefits, and pension, and security, and, and, and...)

AND Ironfox was born!
